Impact on Activism
The strikes caused not only the grape industry, but the entire farming industry to adopt laws that help farmers earn more and work under safe conditions. The Salad Bowl strike was a direct result of the Delano Grape strikes, and the workers employed similar tactics as farmers did in the Delano Grape Strikes, and they worked. The emergence of the UFW as a legitimate organization allowed a lot of agricultural reform to happen, all over the country. These strikes set a model for a lot of the civil rights movements that came after it, and the fact that the Delano Grape Strikes worked inspired many other activists to pursue their goals. The Delano Grape Strikes was one of the movements that paved the way for modern protests.

Cesar Chavez showed America what a person of Latino background can do when they work hard and are not limited. His effervescent attitude and his work hard ethic was one of the reasons the Delano Grape Strikes ever reached the eyes of people across the country. Many Mexican-Americans, and people of Hispanic origin look at Cesar Chavez and see a great leader, but more importantly a great man. Not only does Cesar Chavez inspire, but all the strikers who gave up pay and protested for hours a day give inspiration to children today. He remains a role model to many Latinos today, and his impact on America will never be forgotten.

“What the grape strikers achieved went far beyond themselves. They inspired succeeding generations of Americans to social and political activism. And they created a revolution in empowerment and self-determination among Latinos that is felt in every corner of America today.”"
~ Arturo Rodriguez, the current UFW president |
"Martin Luther King and Cesar Chavez were similar in many aspects. They both wanted social change, justice, and equal treatment for all people, especially the poor, and dispossessed. Chavez is the Dr.King of the Mexican-American People."
~ Aaron Manzanares, former UFW member |
